Angry On The Inside - ADHD Women Talking Late Diagnosis

Show Notes

Why are so many girls with ADHD still being missed?

In the Season 2 premiere of Angry on the Inside, Jess and Jeannine welcome their very first guest, ADHD life coach & researcher Louise Belshaw, for Part 1 of a two-part conversation about the girls who grew up feeling misunderstood.

Drawing from her research on women diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, Louise shares why puberty, perfectionism, masking, friendship struggles, and emotional overwhelm so often led girls to be labeled as ”difficult” instead of receiving the understanding and support they needed.

Together, they explore the emotional cost of late-recognized ADHD in girls, why genuine curiosity from adults matters, and how a single question, ”What’s really going on?”, can change a young person’s life.

If you’re a late-diagnosed woman with ADHD, a parent, educator, or someone who wants to better understand neurodivergent girls, this conversation is for you.

Part 2 drops this Thursday, where the conversation turns to what happens when those girls become ADHD women experiencing late diagnosis, grief, anger, self-discovery, and looking back at their lives through an entirely different lens.

High-functioning ADHD in women can look like meeting expectations, handling pressure, and getting everything done. Behind that capable appearance may be high masking, overpreparing, constant energy calculations, exhaustion, and the crash that follows.
