Ep 13: Matriarchs

Auntie Up!

Show Notes

Our teachings, worldviews, and values are all connected, just as we are to one another – All our relations. Colonial rule did all it could to silence women’s voices, to sever their connections and break the circle. Nahanni Fontaine, organizer of the Matriarch Summit and Andrea Menard, founder of Matriarchs in Training are working hard to strengthen the circle again. Hosted by Kim Wheeler and Rosanna Deerchild.

Join Auntie Jolene Banning and guests Shannon Gustafson and Genevieve Desmoulin in a heartfelt conversation about grief. When you lose someone you love the pain is intense, raw, devastating and you wonder how do I go on? When you’re not thinking about that, there can be all sorts of thoughts running through your head from guilt, to regret to calmness to confusion. Now all alone, what are you supposed to do? How does one go on with their life? Or find joy and love again? But there is hope. There are many who have walked this walk. While I walk with my grief, I’d like to share all the love, kindness, and knowledge Aunties have to offer. I hope to better understand grief and learn ways to move through it, and hopefully help the next person on this journey.
