Summary
Comic Book Club features a conversation with writer Matt Fraction, who discusses his latest project, "Batman: Bad Seeds," at a comic convention. Fraction describes the event as a collaborative effort among various writers, allowing for multiple storylines set in Gotham City. He emphasizes the importance of making the event optional for readers, avoiding the frustration of mandatory tie-ins that can detract from individual storylines.
Fraction elaborates on the narrative structure of "Bad Seeds," likening it to a disaster movie with interconnected plots. He expresses excitement about showcasing Gotham as a character itself, highlighting the diverse perspectives of different writers involved in the project. He also touches on his ongoing work with Batman, including the introduction of a new character, Verity Pennyworth, and the upcoming arc titled "The Assassination of Bruce Wayne," which explores the implications of Batman's dual identity.
Reflecting on his past work, Fraction shares his thoughts on the lasting impact of his acclaimed series "Hawkeye," noting its cultural significance and the unexpected popularity of its characters. He expresses gratitude for the support he received during its creation and the ongoing resonance of the story within the comic community.
