Bleachmouth Postscript

Show Notes

“Genuinely Nasty People” Tommy Shotton is a London based musician that cut his teeth on hardcore punk, learning to play drums along to his favorite records of the genre. We met via social media at the onset of the pandemic and have had some vigorous conversations about our favorite music. I thought it would make sense to have him do an episode. We had a great talk and I look forward to doing it again soon.Tom has just released the first single (“Back Home”) from his forthcoming long-player “Forever Home” due November 2021. You can check it out here- tomshotton.bandcamp.com Here are some of the artists/musicians we talked about;Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, Poison Idea, Zeke, Kiss, Easy Action, Buzzcocks, Circle Jerks and Wire. "That's the name of the episode" I've wanted to do a deep dive on this specific record for a while, but held off for a variety of reasons. I'm definitely glad that I did because I had an awesome time dissecting this classic with Marc and Tim. I could have went with "We're Not in This Alone", but ultimately decided on the one that made me first fall in in love with Youth of Today's music.

"Nothings Gonna Change Because Your Prophets Shout" In the quest to upload all of the past episodes from the old feed to the new, due to the loss of a host, I've added this one to the current feed. At the time of this recording, it had been over a month since the prior episode was posted. Apparently, I just wanted to catch up with everyone in the interim, but ended up rambling on a little more than I intended. Things are still pretty rough out there, but this is a reminder that like The Impressions, we need to keep on pushing. Thanks for checking in, Larry (Original release date 6/5/2022)

"Lay Down Your Souls for the Gods Rock and Roll" RIP Cronos. I won't say too much more because there are much smarter folks that have said everything there is to say about Venom and their impact of extreme music, particularly metal. What I will say is that they rule. I loved them from the first time I heard "Rip Ride" on a janky mix tape given to me by a friend with a more than dubious reputation. Which only makes sense because what made Venom awesome was that they too were dubious. Dubious muscians with a dubious aesthetic, with (potentially-I've heard otherwise) dubious intentions. Venom rules, Cronos rules.
