Show Notes

Well, holy heck… our cheeky little podcast, artchatter, hasbeen nominated for a Women’s Business Club Award https://womensbusiness.club/awards WHAT? We are so very grateful to the listener(s) who nominated us. Unfortunately we can’t attend the awards ceremony in person on 3rd December, but we’ll be live online…holding our breath, obviously! This is a big deal for us. We’re not famous, we don’t have a gazillion followers, but we are more delighted than Jennifer Lawrence on Oscar night. Although the winner isn’t decided by the number of votes, wewould love it if you enjoy #artchatterpodcast if you would take a moment to vote for us. ---------------------------------------------- Righty-ho, back to regular scheduling! We’ve all experienced the “I’ll do it later… after lunch, after a cup of tea…tomorrow?” haven’t we? (It can’t just be us). Why though? Do we really understand why we do this to ourselves when actually just starting can be such a relief. Do we need a pep talk, a body-double, a deadline (helloGaynor)? Is it a question of lack of self-belief, confidence or dare we say it…fear? Fear of being judged, fear of getting it wrong, fear of looking foolish? Or all of the above? Maybe if we look at the reasons behind our procrastination we’ll find a way to motivate ourselves. If we understand what we need, perhaps we can find a solution and step right on up and do the thing. Finally! Now, as always, we invite you to tell us how you feel aboutthis, what’s your favourite go to delay tactic…and do you know why you put things you actually want to do, off? there’s lots more to chat about. No matter what life throws at us, we have stuff to do. We have events. Big, small and all approached with hope and a smile. We need our paintings finished, framed and ready to go…done. Except there’s so much more to consider.

What dictates how you create? Practicality, colour, luminosity, the way it feeeeeelsss, the tools you use, the space you have?

Get ready for the invasion of small humans. It’s THAT time again, people will visit, tiny creatures will devour your brain cells AND energy. Grandparent artists will find their days filled with love and sticky fingers; parent artists will become personal chauffeurs, chefs, and/or entertainment officers. There will be tantrums (mainly from artists who need some creativity time).

Holy heck, it’s been five whole years of mixing up friendship and art. Thank you. What’s changed? Hair cuts, glasses, we’ve had exhibitions, photo shoots, attended art fairs, been nominated (came second!) for a women’s business award and started a club (
