Matthew 17:1-9 — Remember God’s Greatness! (Ep.018), A. The Transfiguration of Our Lord

Jesus is asked “What is the greatest commandment?” in this episode. Jesus answers and gives us the foundation of all the commandments. We discuss what it means to love God and our neighbor. Jesus also has a question of his own about the Messiah that reveals who He is.

The Pharisees and Herodians try to trap Jesus with a difficult question about paying taxes to Caesar. Jesus knows they are trying to trap them and is able to answer the question wisely and teach them a deeper truth. Listen to this episode to hear his answer and to find out the truth he taught them and teaches us today.

Jesus tells a parable about a king who has a wedding banquet for his son. In this episode we discuss how many of those invited refuse to come and the king has his servants go out and invite “the bad as well as the good”. We then look at why the king throws one person out into the darkness just because he was not wearing the proper wedding clothes. What does that mean? Finally we look at the final verse “for many are invited, but few are chosen”. Thank you for listening to The Easy English Bible Study Podcast. The Parable of the Wicked Tenants. In this episode Jesus tells a parable about a vineyard that judges the religious leaders he is speaking to. He tells the religious leaders that the kingdom of God will be taken away from them and “given to a people who will produce its fruit”. This is a warning to us as well today. God has done everything to make it possible for us to produce spiritual fruit (being honest, loving, humble etc.) and He expects us to, though the help of the Holy Spirit, to live lives that produce such fruit. Jesus also makes several references to the Old Testament including 2 Samuel 12, Psalm 118 and Isaiah chapter 5. Thank you for listening to this podcast. I hope it is beneficial to you. In this episode the religious leaders question Jesus’ authority. Jesus responds with his own question and then tells them “The Parable of the Two Sons”. He teaches that people who repent and do the will of God will enter the kingdom of heaven ahead of religious people who obey with only words but not with actions.
