Summary
Marilyn York relocates with her family from Park City, Wisconsin, to West Plainfield, Texas, to open her own medical practice. After her husband Roger and their two-year-old son leave for their new home, Marilyn stays behind to finish her patient appointments. However, when Roger fails to call, she becomes alarmed and sets out to find them with a colleague, Henry. Their search leads them to a remote inn, where they encounter a series of unsettling events, including a hostile innkeeper and a mysterious atmosphere.
As they investigate the inn, Marilyn discovers her family's van, abandoned and stripped of belongings. The situation escalates when they are confronted by the inn's sinister residents, leading to a violent confrontation. Marilyn and Henry are attacked, resulting in their deaths at the hands of the Bender family, who are revealed to be notorious killers. Marilyn narrowly escapes, but the horror continues as she navigates through a gruesome landscape filled with remnants of the Benders' gruesome activities.
In the aftermath, law enforcement responds to Marilyn's claims, but the Bender family manages to evade capture, disappearing without a trace. The Benders are later linked to over 70 murders, but despite extensive searches and rewards for information, they remain at large, leaving behind a chilling legacy of terror.
