The mysterious traveler finally has a name: Nicolás Salgado. As he approaches the cabin across the lake, he thinks about the old letter he has carried for more than a year and the unfinished map that came with it. Both belonged to his great-grandfather, Tomás, who disappeared nearly a century ago while searching for a hidden treasure in the mountains.
Then Nicolás meets Javier Mendoza, a stranger with food, a fishing spot, and no idea what Nicolás is really looking for.
In Chapter 2 of *Lo que esconde el monte*, the mystery begins to take shape.

In Chapter 6 of Lo que esconde el monte, the mystery continues as the search for answers around the old map, Tomás Salgado, and the hidden treasure becomes more complicated.
Javier travels to Toluca to visit his elderly grandmother, Lupita, whose memory is beginning to fade. Just as he is about to leave, an old photograph on her wall catches his attention and opens a window into Santa Lucía’s past.
Nicolás heads into Santa Lucía del Monte to buy food and supplies, but a simple stop at a local gas station turns tense when he meets Daniel Rojas, the town’s suspicious police commander. Daniel immediately takes an interest in the stranger, and when something unexpected falls from Nicolás’s wallet, the encounter becomes much more dangerous.
