"I won't let go, even if you say so"
This week, Evan torments* Alex with the debut solo album by The Wonder Years' Dan Campbell (in-character under the moniker of Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties) We Don't Have Each Other. Dan eschews his trademark pop-punk sound for a more folk-rock/roots aesthetic, whilst delivering a linear narrative primarily dealing with the aftermath of the divorce of a couple. The tracks also explore themes of isolation, guilt, despair, indecision, addiction and grief.
Post-Gap: Dad Rock Draft
*Alex was going through it.

Join us this week as Alex and Evan look back on the albums we've covered this season, what we've learned, what we wish we did differently and how much each others' picks have stayed with us since the episode. Also discussed: what to expect with Season 2 and The Patreon going forward. Thanks everyone for your support and we will see you in Season 2! (and over on Patreon for The B-Sides ;))
"It's not in my mind" This week, Alex shows Evan Swans' genre-defying, iconic (and some would argue) signature reformation album, The Seer. Join us as we go track by track over this apocalyptic tapestry of doom, destruction, decay and... dare we say... hope?
(TW: Drug abuse, self-harm, necrophilia, child bereavement)
(TW: this album and therefore this episode includes reference to themes such as trauma, drug use, abuse, prostitution, sexual violence, and violence against women)
"I need a saga. What's the saga? It's Songs for the Deaf! You can't even hear it!" Alex and Evan go track-by-track over Queens of the Stone Age's iconic seminal album, their stoner rock roots/early sound, and the varied talented collaborators who brought this explosive album to life. (Word of the day: eerie) Post-Gap: The Grammies Rant.
