On August 8, hundreds gathered at the Cathedral of St Stephen to celebrate the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, patroness of our Archdiocese. Through her deep trust in God and commitment to serving others, St Mary ensured that people at risk of being overlooked or neglected had the opportunity to experience love and care, especially through education. Reflecting on her legacy and connection with Brisbane, Archbishop Shane Mackinlay said, “She’s a wonderful choice of patroness for our Archdiocese.” As we give thanks for her life and witness, may St Mary of the Cross inspire us to continue the mission entrusted to us to serve those in need, strengthen our communities and proclaim the hope of the Gospel. We hope everyone who joined us for the Mass and celebrations afterwards enjoyed this special occasion.
