Revelation's Seven Last Plagues, Warnings Against the Vatican Cult, and Songs With J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet
World pastor Tony Alamo opens program 287 of How to Have God's Life Living in You with music from J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, warns listeners against blind obedience to what he calls the Vatican cult, and leads co-host Sharon through listener testimonials and a reading of Revelation chapters 15 and 16 on the seven last plagues.
Program 287 Opens With Prayer and Music World pastor Tony Alamo opens program number 287, part 185 of his series How to Have God's Life Living in You, telling listeners that co-host Sharon will explain at the end how to request a free CD or tape, postage covered. He previews songs, testimonials, and what he calls a strong message from the Lord. Alamo leads an opening prayer, asking the Father to anoint the broadcast, to keep believers from falling away and losing their first love, and to save souls in radio land while strengthening the church. Sharon answers with a spoken amen. Alamo then introduces J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, present to sing "Put Your Hand in the Hand," a song about trusting the man who stilled the water and calmed the sea. The group performs several verses recalling the carpenter clearing the temple of buyers and sellers, a passage Alamo returns to later while warning that cult leaders never sing such songs.
Warnings Against Blind Obedience to the Vatican Cult Returning from the music, Alamo warns that cults demand blind obedience to leaders such as the pope in Rome, while true believers follow the Lord instead. He claims that governments and armed forces bomb whomever the pope and the media brand a Hitler, a Mussolini, or a Stalin, following orders without question. Alamo tells the congregation that the Lord has called them to resist this cult through preaching and reform rather than violence, insisting the church is absolutely non-violent even as it separates believers from what he calls Satan's kingdom. He singles out the Vatican as the most dangerous cult in the world, blaming it for the deaths at Waco and for what he describes as the government's role, in blind obedience, in the destruction of the World Trade Center and the federal building in Oklahoma City. He adds that groups connected to the Vatican, including what he calls the Cult Awareness Network or Wellspring, are working to turn his neighbors against his own ministry.
Testimonials From Nigeria, Texas, Georgia and California Sharon reads four listener testimonials aloud while Alamo comments after each. A pastor in Imo State, Nigeria, thanks the ministry for literature and T-shirts and asks for Bibles to give twenty new converts who cannot afford them, and Alamo promises to send what the ministry has. A caller from Houston, Texas, requests the ministry's Messiah book after reading a full-page article in the Houston Chronicle, saying he had long wanted the messianic prophecies gathered in one place. A deacon named Joseph in Atlanta, Georgia, reports that after reading the Messiah book himself he wants copies for all forty members of his small congregation plus a sample of every other piece of literature available. Finally, a prisoner named Tom in San Diego, California, writes that he found Alamo's article "Difficult Mountains" in the Union-Tribune, has been reading the enclosed prayer every morning, and asks for a large-print Bible because his eyesight is failing; Sharon confirms one has already been mailed to him.
Revelation Chapter 15 and the Song of the Lamb Alamo turns the broadcast to the Book of Revelation, telling listeners that its prophecies can only be understood once they are actually happening and that the present day is that moment. He has Sharon begin reading chapter 15, which describes seven angels bearing the seven last plagues and the saints who overcame the beast singing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb beside a sea of glass mingled with fi
