The Analog Gospel with Jason Parrish

Will You Disappear? Rapture Theology Explained | Episode 31

The Analog Gospel with Jason Parrish

Show Notes

Most of what you believe about the end of the world, you probably learned from a movie. A film in a church basement, a book series your mom had on the shelf, a chart on a wall, or a rapture song that DC Talk covered. Somewhere in there, a theology got installed without anyone ever walking you through it. So we walked through it. Most of it. The rapture, the millennium, the tribulation, the four ways Christians read Revelation, and where each of these systems actually came from. Some of them are as old as the church. One of them is younger than the state of Utah... yet it's the one most of the American church believes. Join Pastors Jason Parrish, Joshua Bingle, and Howie Smith along with host, John Rowa, for a fun and educational, yet non-exhaustive look into our eschatology -- the study of the End Times. Together we'll discover what's Biblical and what should be... LEFT BEHIND! ;) Text ANALOG to 55498 for more info and the Weekly Growth Guide that includes the latest sermon, podcast episode, daily Bible reading, and more.

Everyone is asking whether AI has a soul. That’s the easy question. The harder question is what AI is doing to our souls. In this episode, Pastors Jason Parrish, Joshua Bingle, and Howie Smith join host John Rowa to take a pastoral look at artificial intelligence and human identity. Not recipes and outfit-of-the-day prompts, but the deeper thing underneath: if being human means bearing the image of God, what happens when we start handing the work of imaging Him over to a machine? AI has no moral agency and no consequences. When a pastor gives bad counsel, he has to carry it and learn from it. A machine carries nothing. We are not throwing stones at AI. There's no sin in using the tool itself. Just don’t expect them do the one thing only an image-bearer can do... carry the weight of what it truly means to be human.

Many people have never heard where tithe & offering money actually goes. In this episode, Pastors Jason Parrish, Erica Parrish, and Joshua Bingle join host John Rowa to pull back the curtains on how tithing really works in a church. The team also gets honest about the parts that don’t get said out loud. Why pastors sound protective when they talk about money. What happens when a church plant can’t make payroll. Why obedience and generosity are not the same thing. And what it actually costs to keep the lights on, pay staff, feed kids, and send help outward. The average churchgoing Christian gives around 2 percent. That gap is the conversation and why tithing isn't a resource problem, it's an obedience problem. Flat earth. The moon landing. Who really did it. There's an entire industry built to monetize your curiosity, and it's working. But Paul had a phrase for this two thousand years ago, and it wasn't a compliment: myths and endless genealogies.

Lots of people talk about church hurt online. But there's almost nobody talking about who’s actually doing it. The conversation runs one direction: institutions wound individuals. Pastors abuse, systems fail, people get crushed. All of that happens, and it’s serious, and we’re not minimizing it. But here’s what doesn’t get said. Most church hurt isn’t coming from a platform. It’s coming from a pew. We gossip, offend, and hurt each other because we are all still… people. And ask any pastor (and their children) how much the people they lead have hurt them and you’d be shocked… but you’ll never see that on a documentary. This episode is not a defense of bad leaders. It’s a challenge to the people who make up the body of Christ. Pastor Jason Parrish is joined by Pastor Erica Parrish, Pastor Joshua Bingle, and John Rowa to talk about church hurt like you've never heard it before. We get into: what separates formation from offense, why correction always stings and why that isn’t evidence of anything nefarious, what to actually do when you’ve been hurt, and how to stop being the person who does the hurting. -- Text ANALOG to 55498 for more info and the Weekly Growth Guide that includes the latest sermon, podcast episode, daily Bible reading, and more. -- The Analog Gospel is a podcast about Christian living, theology, and culture. This might be the most important podcast episode we've ever done and you're going to want to share it with your friends and family. In this episode we take the historic Christian position that hell is real, conscious, and everlasting, and we work to separate that doctrine from four centuries of accumulated cartoon. Pastors Jason Parrish, Josh Bingle, and Howie Smith are joined by John Rowa to walk through the question "Why does God send people to hell?" And then answer that the question might be altogether wrong entirely. The guys also touch on what annihilationism and universalism actually claim and where each one runs out of text. Plus, the episode ends with a moment that will change the life of someone forever.
