More from K Let's Talk
This week, we’re diving into Svetlana, Hayden, and Jackie Pike! How do these characters drive the plot, and how do their portrayals differ in the show? With Jacob’s press run now behind us, we’ve also gained new secrets, insights, and clues about how he plans to use these characters moving forward as we head into Season 2. We will build on our previous commentary and dig even deeper into what might be coming next for these characters. I hope you enjoy!
Happy 'I'll Believe In Anything' book launch week! On this week's episode, we touch on Jacob's new book and the exciting things it can teach us when thinking about the storyline of Season Two. We then dive into some listener-submitted questions that paired well together in this week's chat. First, we discuss a potential plot hole in Shane's storyline in The Long Game that may find its way into Season Two, and some of the ways in which the romance genre shapes the storytelling. We then touch upon the significance of Ryan Price as a character and how his storyline and interactions with Shane and Ilya impact their relationship as we move forward in the timeline. This is a long one, so I hope you enjoy!
Before we get into this week's Q&A episode, we discuss the incredible announcement of the real life Irina Foundation! Focusing on Inclusivity and Mental Health awareness, the foundation "envisions a world where LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and underserved communities experience genuine belonging and opportunity through organized sports and arts programs - creating inclusive spaces that build confidence, connection, and a strong sense of community."
Lets talk about our favorite frenemies, shall we? This episode is all about Hayden Pike, Shane's resident best friend and our favorite father of four, and our favorite instigator, Ilya Rozanov. In this episode, we discuss their dynamic, bickering, which scenes we should expect in season 2, and take a broader look at why Ilya loves to pick on him so much. Does the nagging make Ilya unlikable in The Long Game? Does Hayden actually deserve it? We look at these two characters and the relationship between them from a few different lenses in this episode, and I loved putting this deep dive together. Let's talk!
Welcome back to another Q&A Episode, on the heels of more exciting cast announcements ahead of season 2. This week, we will discuss Captaincy and the ways Shane and Ilya's leadership styles differ and inform their behaviors off-ice. This lends itself to a further discussion surrounding hockey culture and the cultures we find Shane and Ilya molded and shaped within while playing in the MLH up until this point in the story. We also touch upon the reasons why certain scenes from the book are removed or cut for time, and break down a scene from The Long Game that we should be seeing play out on our screens in Season 2.
