The Purist's Paradox: Solving the Frog and BRAT Weak Front Damping

The RC Deep Dive

Show Notes

If you are a Tamiya Frog purist and want to improve the front damping on your R/C buggy but don't want to ruin the look of your Frog by adding tall shock mounts and vertical shocks, your only hop-up option on the 1980s was the Parma internal front mono shock. But since they are now discontinued and rare, there's only one option: the RC Channel expert level shocks hop-up. In this episode of the RC Deep Dive podcast we review these more discreet front shocks giving you their benefits and possible liabilities for your vintage radio-controlled Tamiya Lancia 037 Rally car, or vintage or rere (re-release) Subaru BRAT, and Frog.

While the reres (re-releases) of the Tamiya HotShot family of 4WD (four wheel drive) R/C buggies had some serious updates over the iconic vintage originals, there are still a lot of hop-up options available for this entire family of icons, both for the vintage and rere editions.
