The new era started at Sunderland on Sunday, and it started with a defeat. Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge ended 1-0, Spurs are still in the relegation zone, and the winless run is now at 14 matches. There is no sugarcoating any of that. Now the fixtures do not get any kinder. This Saturday, Brighton come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 5:30pm on Sky Sports, and the plot writes itself. De Zerbi built his reputation at Brighton. He knows them, they know him, and they will not be showing up to do him any favours. On today's show, Jonny, Ollie and Jake are running through everything: what we actually saw from De Zerbi at the Stadium of Light, what we're expecting from Saturday, and the brutal reality of where this club sits with six games to go. There is still a way out of this. But it needs to start on Saturday. Jake R, Jake S and Gary are back for a post match reaction show after Spurs finally got off the mark in the league. Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Coventry City to North London on Monday in pursuit of a first Premier League win this season, and collected a 3-1 victory over their newly-promoted visitors. James Maddison gave Spurs their first lead of the season with a brilliant first time finish from the edge of the box. Against his old club too, which made it even sweeter for him. The win moves Spurs out of the bottom three after James Maddison, Omar Marmoush, and Ben Davies scored against Frank Lampard's Cov.
What a game that was. We are back this morning to pick through the bones of a proper rollercoaster at Old Trafford. Tottenham Hotspur were the dominant side for 60 minutes, but Bryan Mbeumo turned it all upside and put Manchester United ahead, only for Dominic Solanke to equalise in stoppage time, following Rodrigo Bentancur's red card.
We're back for a live discussion show on Monday 5 October at 10am UK time.
Man City have been found guilty of the vast majority of the 115 Premier League charges. The Athletic reports 114 of 115 upheld. Mauricio Pochettino says fans "lived through a period of deception." So where does that leave Tottenham?
