Put The Killers In It

Lonely Town a Killers Podcast

Show Notes

Welcome back to the Lonely Town Podcast, where Derek and Jimmy discuss all things The Killers, Brandon Flowers, concerts, fandom, and whatever else happens to cross their minds.

This week, the guys break down The Killers’ performance at the UEFA Champions League Final and ask the question fans have been asking for years: could The Killers pull off a Super Bowl halftime show?

Derek and Jimmy discuss the band’s six-minute pregame performance, the challenge of squeezing a stadium-sized catalog into a tiny time slot, and why many fans are calling it one of the best Champions League performances to date.

The conversation then takes a surprising turn into the new Masters of the Universe movie, where Derek gets the unexpected thrill of hearing ”The Man” show up during a key He-Man scene. From childhood action figures to Brandon Flowers soundtracking Eternia, it’s one of the most unexpectedly perfect Killers moments imaginable.

The guys also discuss the ongoing mystery surrounding Brandon’s long-awaited solo album, recent Rolling Stone interviews, upcoming festival appearances, and whether fans are getting a little restless waiting for new music.

Along the way, they talk football versus football, concert season, Spotify rankings, future shows, and why the answer to almost every entertainment question might simply be: Put The Killers In It.

Derek and Jimmy are back to talk about one of the craziest weekends they’ve had as Killers fans: two nights with Brandon Flowers at The State Room in Salt Lake City.

Episode Description Thrasher is finally here. Five years after Pressure Machine changed the direction of the Lonely Town Podcast, Brandon Flowers has released his new solo album, and Derek and Jimmy are finally sitting down to give their first reactions. Recorded on Thrasher Day, the guys talk about their first listen to the album, what surprised them, which songs immediately connected, and how the record's mix of traditional country, outlaw country, rock, and even mariachi influences compares with what they expected. Derek also talks about how his recent experience giving friends a tour of Nephi changed the way he was hearing the album. From the West Hills to Mount Nebo, childhood memories and small-town life, there are elements of Thrasher that feel incredibly personal—but also universal. The guys aren't diving into individual songs too deeply yet. Instead, this is the first reaction episode before Lonely Town begins its much deeper journey through the album. They also talk about the upcoming Brandon Flowers warm-up shows at The State Room in Salt Lake City, the mad scramble for 300 tickets, the possibility of fans livestreaming the shows, and why Derek still believes a Brandon Flowers show in Nephi would be the ultimate homecoming. And, of course, there's the ongoing question: Will Brandon ever actually play Nephi? After five years of Lonely Town, Derek and Jimmy aren't giving up. Show Notes 🎵 Thrasher Has Arrived
