Diogo Jota - Forever in Our Hearts | Liverpool Library with José Manuel Delgado

Jose Manuel Delgado, author of "Diogo Jota: Forever in Our Heart," shares insights into the emotional journey of writing the biography of the late footballer Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away alongside his brother. The book, which has been well-received in Portugal since its release in May, aims to preserve Jota's memory through the voices of those who knew him best, including family, friends, and teammates. Delgado emphasizes the importance of capturing not just Jota's achievements as a footballer but also his character as a husband, brother, and friend.

Delgado recounts how the project began when he was approached by the president of the Portuguese Football Federation just before Jota's funeral. He reflects on the challenges of interviewing nearly 90 people, many of whom found it difficult to revisit painful memories. The book includes heartfelt anecdotes that illustrate Jota's kindness and dedication, revealing how he built strong personal relationships within the Liverpool Football Club and beyond.

The biography is not only a tribute to Jota's life but also serves a charitable purpose, with proceeds supporting grassroots football initiatives in both Portugal and the Liverpool area. Delgado expresses hope that the book will help Jota's children understand their father's legacy and the love he inspired in those around him.

Dan is joined by author José Manuel Delgado, who has written the family-authorised biography of Diogo Jota, to discuss the process of writing such an important and emotional book about Liverpool's number 20.
