Big Changes, CARB Parts, and Green Speed full details - Catching up with Cobb Tuning

Flatirons Syndicate Motorsports Podcast

Show Notes

Cobb Tuning has been at the center of Subaru Performance basically since it was founded in 1999. When they released the first version of the AccesPort in 2004, they completely changed the way that Tuning worked, and established the foundation for what the future of Subaru Performance would be for decades to come.

In this episode, Jon and Dan (Mach V Motorsports) sit down with Tadd Crayton (President of Cobb Tuning) and Billy Brooks (Chief Technical and Compliance Officer) to get a clear picture of where Cobb is now, and what they are working on for the future.

We start out the conversation talking about the Green Speed initiative which was the point where Cobb set a new standard for CARB compliance for all of their Performance Parts.

We then talk about the changes that are happening at Cobb this year as they re-structure to work with some of the brands that their Parent Company (Engineered Performance Technologies) has added to their group, specifically Grimmspeed, PRL, and Hondata.

From there, we talk about some of the things that Cobb has been working on for the future, specifically a CARB approved Down Pipe (which still has a little development to go, but is getting close) and the possibility of a CARB approved Flex-Fuel kit in the future.

For Episode 216 of the Podcast, Dewey, Art, Tanner, and Jon all sit down to talk about the Japan Mobility Show news...At least that was the plan. But the show was run differently this year, and there was no News to discuss, so we decided to Pivot and talk about Driving.Dewey is just back from driving at Tail of the Dragon, and he had a blast in his STI swapped GD WRX.Cars are built and designed to be driven, and we ended up having a great discussion about why it is so good to just get out there and drive your car.Hope you enjoy this episode. Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

If you own a car, it is pretty much a given that at some point you will need to take it to a shop to get some kind of work done.It could be that you just need to get your oil changed, or a new set of tires put on.But if you have a car that you have started to modify, or you are looking to start a build on your car, there is a good chance that you will need to find an experienced shop to help you along the path with your build for anything from installs, fabrication, set-up, tuning, etc.For this conversation, we sit down with Dan from Mach V Motorsports and Tony from Turn in Concepts to talk about the best practices to find a shop to work with. What is the best way to initially reach out? What kinds of questions should you ask?How important is budget? What if you have a problem you can't figure out?We get into all of these questions and more. Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!

What happens when NASIOC goes down and doesn't come back? What about these new WRX and BRZ Anniversary editions? We had a plan for this episode of the podcast, but when NASIOC went down at the beginning of the week, and with all the discussion about the Limited Edition WRX and BRZ from Boxer Fest, that plan was pretty much thrown out the window.I'll also mention that Dewey was at the IAG Mother Ship for this episode, so his audio had a few glitches, and there wasn't anything that we could do to fix it in the edit. This was a great conversation and I hope you enjoy it.Thanks for watching and Stay Tuned!
