Show Notes
This week on Only Child: Broadway Edition, Bob the Drag Queen sits down with legendary performer, filmmaker, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator John Cameron Mitchell.
They dive into John’s rocker roots and the queer punk nightlife that inspired Hedwig, from the iconic Squeezebox club to the drag queens and musicians who helped shape downtown New York performance. John also shares how the show grew from a drag club experiment into a global phenomenon.
The two also talk about John’s current run on Broadway in Oh, Mary!, the reality of grueling Broadway schedules, and life as a performer who’s been doing it for decades. Plus: queer rock history, growing up as a military kid, a legendary nun named Sister Terri, and a VERY specific question John wants Bob to ask the next guest.
