Graham Nash Reveals The Full Story Behind Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young’s 1974 Stadium Tour (Ep. 279)
DiscograffitiShow Notes
Discograffiti is the deep-dive podcast for music obsessives. In this episode, Graham Nash dissects the extravagant lunacy that accompanied CSNY’s 1974 stadium tour, which Crosby referred to as “The Doom Tour”. Discograffiti’s Wild Tales: The Graham Nash Interview Series tackles every last release Graham ever had a hand in creating, including CSN/Y, C&N, and his solo career, detailing a history almost too wild to be believed.
Here are just a few of the many things that Graham discusses with Discograffiti in this podcast:
A laundry list of the various excesses in which the four men indulged on that tour; Good times and horror stories involving the copious cocaine imbibed that summer; The band members’ wild personal trips during that tour, including Stills’ ornate fantasy life as a clandestine operative in the jungles of Vietnam; Graham’s personal hang time with Neil Young after the tour; And an in-depth deep dive on the music made for the CSNY box set 1974.

Four years ago, a guy named Rudy Fischmann started listening to Discograffiti. He signed up for Patreon. I reached out to him, and we became fast friends. He’s 54—just three months older than me—and he told me during our first conversation that he had brain cancer. He began making this show—in case you’re unfamiliar with it, I’m pretty sure The Discograffiti Soldiers of Sound Podcast is the world’s only podcast within a podcast. And yet here we are, 150 episodes later, and Rudy has created a show that’s lasted far longer than most regular podcasts. And it’s literalized the Discograffiti community, bringing folks together far and wide as friends, collaborators, and…hell, possibly even as lovers, as far as I know.
