Feelings of shame are normal but do not play a role in the final verdict. Shame is only a tool that allows us to reconnect with HaShem's loving/true assessment of who we were born to be. Each one of us is imbued with special talents and gifts along with proscribed challenges. Yom Kippur tells us to "Stand up and be counted among the righteous and meritorious."
