Geno Smith’s Biggest Weakness Exposed—Can The New York Jets Fix It?

The New York Jets face mounting challenges as they navigate the 2026 NFL season, particularly regarding their offensive strategies and coaching decisions. Geno Smith has shown promise, yet struggles against blitzes, raising questions about the coaching staff's ability to adapt their game plan to leverage his strengths. Critics highlight a lack of effective plays designed to counter aggressive defenses, leading to frustration among fans and analysts alike.

Special teams, once a strength for the Jets, have also seen a significant decline this season. After finishing as one of the top units in 2025, the current performance has been disappointing, with returners failing to provide advantageous field position. Analysts suggest that execution issues and injuries have contributed to this regression, emphasizing the need for improvement in this area.

Concerns extend to the coaching staff, particularly regarding Aaron Glenn's effectiveness as head coach. Many fans express skepticism about his ability to lead the team, citing poor decision-making and questionable game management. As the Jets sit at a 2-4 record, there is growing pressure on Glenn to demonstrate improvement or face potential changes as the season progresses. The upcoming games will be crucial for the Jets to turn their season around and regain the confidence of their fan base.
