Cozy Conversations with The Sister Project

Show Notes

Welcome back, WIFs! Today we're talking about something with perhaps the worst name and one of the best excuses to get outside: the fart walk. What started as a funny internet term is actually connected to a much older and much cozier idea—the simple post-dinner stroll. From Italy's la passeggiata to Spain's el paseo, cultures around the world have long understood that a little movement after a meal can be good for the body, the mind, and your social life.

Michelle and Lauren dive into why a gentle 10–20 minute walk after dinner can support digestion, help regulate blood sugar, reduce stress, and create a natural transition into the evening. But this conversation isn't really about exercise. It's about turning movement into a ritual instead of another item on your to-do list. It's about getting outside, chatting with the people you love, noticing your neighborhood, and giving yourself a little space between dinner and the rest of your night.

The sisters also catch up on post-travel adventures, favorite Michigan towns, an unexpected conversation with a stranger by the water, and the little moments of connection that remind us to slow down and pay attention. Then it's time for books, movies, simple joys, and a few current obsessions—including Lauren’s continued fascination with Alive.

So grab your walking shoes, invite someone you love, and take a little stroll with us. Because sometimes the simplest wellness habits are the ones that fit most naturally into everyday life. Welcome back, WIFs! From badly behaved sports fans to a society glued to its phones, Lauren and Michelle have a few grievances to air this week. And speaking of feeling irritated, could perimenopause be making everything just a little more annoying? The sisters get into Paul Rudd’s thoughts on our phone obsession, the New York Times’ take on “attention infidelity,” and what happens to our relationships when screens keep stealing the spotlight. On the cozy media front, Lauren shares her love for Gloria Steinem’s An Unexpected Life, then the sisters weigh in on Verity and movies that aren't worth the price of admission. Plus, what they're listening to, upcoming events, glorious fall weather, and the underrated pleasure of spending hours making a meal. Grab something cozy. There's plenty to discuss. Welcome back, WIFs! This week, Lauren and Michelle are raising a toast to all the fall-loving basic bitches and celebrating the coziest month of the year: October. From pumpkin spice and sweaters to Halloween traditions and nostalgic fall rituals, they dive into why this season feels so comforting—and apparently, there’s actual science behind our obsession with it. For their cozy media roundup, they discuss This Is Not About Us by Allegra Goodman, HBO’s A Killer Story, and the Good Hang episode with Amy Poehler and Robert De Niro that had Michelle questioning whether some people are simply impossible to interview. And, of course, they wrap things up with simple joys. Press play, get cozy, and celebrate October with your favorite basic fall-loving sisters.

Welcome back, WIFs! This week, Lauren and Michelle are catching up on a whirlwind weekend in Sonoma County, one of the best weddings Michelle has ever attended, and a flight home that deserves its own conversation. They also have questions. Robots on the runway? No, thank you. Bringing an iced latte into a job interview? Apparently that’s a thing now. Naturally, they have thoughts. In an attempt to do a little more bloomscrolling and a little less doomscrolling, the sisters share a simple feel-good mantra that has made its way into their mornings. Plus, what they’re reading, watching, and listening to—including Ryan Murphy’s Monster series taking on the notorious story of Lizzie Borden. Travel chaos, wedding joy, robots, iced coffee etiquette, a little mindfulness, a little murder, and the usual sister banter. You know, balance.

Welcome back, WIFs! This week, Lauren and Michelle are talking longevity—not in a biohacking, never-eat-a-cookie-again kind of way, but in the everyday choices that can help us live longer, healthier, and hopefully happier lives. The sisters share the things they’re already doing—walking, yoga, mindfulness, therapy, gratitude, human connection, functional movement, and getting outside—as well as the things they’d like to do more of. Think lifting weights, learning new things, journaling, continuing their education, and figuring out how to eat less sugar and processed food without removing all joy from existence. There’s also a Cozy Tea moment with ginger, lemon, cinnamon, and honey, and a little reminder that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to require an entire lifestyle overhaul. Sometimes it’s the small things we do over and over again that matter most. Plus, plenty of cozy catching up, wheezy laughing, and what they’re loving right now—from Everyday With Babs and Witches of Eastwick to an intriguing investigative podcast and Grace Potter’s latest album. Press play, get cozy, and join us for a conversation about taking care of ourselves for the long haul—without forgetting to actually enjoy being here.
