Ep 1436 | The Cornell 7 Case Forces an Uncomfortable Question About Modern Manhood
Unashamed with the Robertson FamilyShow Notes
The Cornell 7 case has become a political and media battleground, but Jase, Al, and Zach argue that both sides are missing the deeper struggle underneath it. The guys dig into America’s crisis of manhood, the pornification of culture, and what happens when people are taught to follow every desire without boundaries or responsibility. Zach challenges young men to reject a culture that treats women as objects, while Jase and Al contrast man’s shifting standards with biblical ideas of virtue, wisdom, and justice. They ultimately point to redemption through Jesus as the only real way to break the cycle and start over.

More from Unashamed with the Robertson Family
A 3,000-year-old story hits surprisingly close to home as Al, Zach, Christian, and John Luke wrap up their journey through Homer's Odyssey. Al gets personal about his and Lisa's marriage struggles, infidelity, and the hard road to restoration, while the guys consider what the ancient epic reveals about the importance of marriage, fatherhood, and the foundations of civilization. They also revisit the Robertsons' notoriously competitive family game nights, debate the difference between justice and revenge, and Zach connects the Odyssey's homecoming to the Gospel and explains how an ancient story ultimately points toward Jesus.
The Jesus who offers forgiveness is also the terrifying judge we’ll face, and that’s a harder picture to hang on the wall. Jase, Al, and Zach challenge the comfortable version of Jesus that leaves out his power, authority, and judgment as they continue through Jude. The guys confront church imposters, the excuses that sustain a double life, and the temptation to treat grace as permission to keep sinning. They also trace the Bible’s warnings about fallen angels and consider a possible connection between an ancient sacrificial ritual and the spiritual forces Jesus defeated.
A dangerous conspiracy theory about a school shooting pushes Zach to confront a man he knows personally, and the response is even more disturbing than the claims themselves. Jase and Al join Zach in examining America's obsession with conspiracy theories, political battles, and other distractions that keep people from confronting problems in their own lives. Meanwhile, Jase's morning descends into chaos involving a fire truck, a terrifying spider, and losing some hair. The guys also dig into the book of Jude, exploring the strange biblical accounts of fallen angels, sexual immorality, and the forbidden boundaries between the human and spiritual realms.
Phil kept walking while his bodyguards handled an unexpected encounter so quickly that almost no one noticed, but Al remembers the moment vividly. The cheese feud heats up again when Al brings back reinforcements from Sargento, while Zach insists name-brand cereal made the Robertsons look rich when they were kids. Al recounts how a room full of singing Marines energized him after an exhausting week. Continuing their study of Jude, Jase, Al, and Zach challenge cruise ship Christianity, online arguments, and the habit of labeling everyone who disagrees as a false teacher.
Jase reluctantly agrees to officiate a family wedding, but a powerful story from Missy's family about a 70-year marriage and one unforgettable goodbye turns the ceremony into something much more meaningful. Jase, Al, and Zach discuss the four qualities every lasting marriage needs, as Jase also reveals his unique method of dealing with marital frustrations. Al reflects on the struggles he and Lisa faced before rebuilding their marriage through faith, and the guys begin their study of Jude, connecting its warnings about false teachers to the challenges of remaining faithful in marriage and in life.
