"Making and doing was my entree into the creative world" - Sarah-Jane Pyke
We're kicking off Season 3: Colour, with one of the titans in the design industry. Arent&Pyke is a Sydney-based interior design studio formed by Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke in 2007. Since their inception, Arent&Pyke and gone on to be one of the leaders and trendsetters for interior design, with a multi-award winning practice and an authenticity to their design ethos.
We chat with principal Sarah-Jane Pyke, following her story from her upbringing in Sydney to tackling design school and making her way through the industry. We explore what it's like working in a partnership with Juliette and how decisions are made in the practice. With a focus on colour this season, we talk about how clever wording can sometimes get a client over the line with it comes to making choices with colour, is it turmeric or is it mustard that might seal the deal? We also discuss the relationships you build with clients and how important it is to design a home for someone. Find out what Sarah-Jane's style is at home, what her favourite colours are and she gives her recommendation on the best spot to eat in Sydney. Constantly producing stunning projects, we can't wait to see what's next from this design duo!

We've come to the end of another season of House of Style but we're going out in.. well, style! Stylist Steve Cordony sits down with us to chat about all the beautiful things he's been up to. You've no doubt followed his journey renovating the stunning Rosedale Farm in Orange but we take a step back and talk about his early days in magazines, what led to the farm project and of course, what's next on the cards. The renovation of Rosedale Farm was a huge undertaking and Steve explains his references, his design process and inspiration and how it all came together. We talk about the changing landscape of being a stylist and content creator and the ways to keep up with social media trends. We loved chatting with Steve, he's always such an inspiring figure in the industry and what a perfect way to wrap up the season.
This week we went on location to record at Alexander House where we interviewed Jeremy Bull, founder and director of award winning design studio Alexander and Co. We're letting in you on a little secret this week... this is where all the stylist's and designers get their artwork for their shoots and homes! Our guest this week is the owner and curator of Saint Cloche gallery in Paddington, Kitty Clark. Kitty has a background in fashion merchandising working for luxury brand Gucci before making one of those all too familiar pivots into owning her own gallery. Now she's one of the most prominent figures in the art scene in Sydney with regular shows and a great eye for up and coming talent. We delve into how she got started, how she curates shows and of course whats next on the cards for Saint Cloche. We're big fans of Kitty so we're thrilled to share her story with you all!
This week Kerrie-Ann and Jono revisit the world of interiors magazines, albeit from a slightly different angle. We're talking with editor Tanya Buchanan who overseas not one but TWO homes titles, Australian House & Garden and Belle magazine. We explore the path she took through the world of publishing, with a pit stop at RM Williams along the way, and how she made her way to run two of Australia's most successful homes titles. With the print media landscape constantly evolving, we analyse what is it about Australia's obsession with their homes and how it keeps this industry alive, and what is on the cards for the future.
