Step Out of the Shadows

FRESH Official Podcast

Show Notes

What's hiding in the shadows of your life? The things you don't talk about – the guilt you bury, the bitterness you justify, the secret habits that quietly own you. Maybe no one else sees them, but you do. And they're stealing your peace.

Have you ever walked into a dark room after being out in the sunlight? For a few moments, you can't see a thing. Your eyes strain, your body hesitates, and the familiar feels foreign. But as soon as the light switch flicks on, everything changes. What was hidden is visible again.

That's how it works in our souls, too. We get so used to living with little pockets of darkness – resentment we won't deal with, shame we won't confess, emotions we keep locked away – that, after a while, the shadows feel normal.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Christians in Ephesus, who were surrounded by temptation and compromise, calling them – and us – out of the shadows and into the light:

Ephesians 5:14 Yes, everything is made clear by the light. This is why we say, "Wake up, you who are sleeping! Rise from death, and Christ will shine on you."

The message is simple but urgent: stop living half-asleep. Stop pretending that darkness is harmless. Jesus didn't die to make you comfortable in the shadows – He rose to bring you fully into His light.

And yes, that light exposes things we'd rather hide. But it also heals what we could never fix on our own. So, what's your dark room – the thing you've avoided opening up to God? Flip the switch. Let His light in.

Because freedom doesn't come by hiding … it comes by stepping into the light.

That's God's Word. Fresh … for you … today.
