Episode 10 - Winding down with Nick O'Reilly

Insolvency: Dodging Bullets

Show Notes

What happens when a young professional in the 1980s enters a field so misunderstood that people confuse his job with "solvent abuse"?

In this episode, Stephen Hunt sits down with Nick O’Reilly, a former President of R3 and a true veteran of the insolvency world. Nick takes us back to the early days of the Official Receiver’s office—a time of "sink or swim" learning where he found himself questioning bankrupts twice his age about financial structures he was still figuring out himself. From those humble beginnings, Nick’s career took him through the high-pressure corridors of "Big City" firms and to the agile, high-impact world of smaller practices. He pulls no punches as he discusses the regulations hampering football club administrations and his plans now he has retired from the profession.
