Yesterday in Sports recaps a massive Sunday across the NFL, NBA, NHL, European soccer and Formula One, beginning with both of football’s remaining unbeaten conference leaders finally going down.
Chris Horwedel breaks down Seattle’s dominant 20-3 win over previously unbeaten Kansas City, as Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues his huge season and the Seahawks completely control Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Atlanta also hands San Francisco its first loss, forcing four turnovers and scoring 23 unanswered points behind Michael Penix Jr.
The rest of the NFL slate includes Pittsburgh winning the league’s first regular-season game in France, Minnesota remaining perfect, Detroit beating Green Bay at the buzzer and Cincinnati exploding in the second half against Baltimore. The Raiders also face a developing quarterback decision involving top pick Fernando Mendoza, while Carolina loses Taylor Moton to a fractured fibula.
In the NBA, Luka Dončić erupts for 52 points as the Lakers erase an 18-point deficit against Utah, while defending champion New York falls to 0-3. Oklahoma City remains unbeaten but leaves its win over the Clippers with major concern after Jalen Williams suffers a lower-leg injury.
The NHL features Quinn Hughes reaching 500 career points in his return to Vancouver, helping Minnesota move into first place while the Canucks’ winless streak reaches 10 games.
In soccer, Real Madrid beats Barcelona 2-1 in El Clásico behind two Kylian Mbappé goals, tightening the La Liga title race. Manchester United’s struggles deepen after a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, increasing the pressure on Michael Carrick.
The episode closes with Formula One, where Kimi Antonelli wins the United States Grand Prix and moves within one race of potentially becoming the youngest world champion in series history. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
