Show Notes
With the Creepy Season rollin' in, Miss Dom & Max decide some Blues vibes are required. They kick off the show with a little stack of 'blues-infused' selections. The pair then do some fun diggin', surfacing from the depths with a bunch of classic jazz tracks by groups who covered versions of those classics - with versions covered - both - by a couple of the Jazz Greats - plus a few covered by more recent artists, & players - uncovering a few surprises in the process.
Dom makes mention of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. And the pair take a speedy look at a few exciting new releases from local, & offshore. Plus, also add a couple of random Spooky tracks - 'cos 'tis the season.
As always - our kind thanks to the amazing San Ray - who bring us the Jazz Show each week. Find San Ray at 118 Ponsonby Road for outstanding eats, beverages & vibes. : >
More from 95bFM: The 95bFM Jazz Show
A sunny afternoon of jazz brought to you by host Blind Mango Chutney and San Ray classic bistro, kicking off with the quasi-religious feel of Phil Upchurch (with the legendary Charles Stepney as producer) before heading into a big 10” set starting with the vibes of Milt Jackson and the alto sax of Charlie Parker. He finishes with some great local tracks by players from Jonathan Crayford & Riki Gooch, to Murray McNabb, Andy Brown & Frank Gibson Jr.
Frances Chan samples Mexican flavours, with a side of spiritual jazz and fresh cuts from the UK, sandwiched between Marvellous Mingus.
Blind Mango Chutney hosts your jazz hang this afternoon, starting with a nice warm number and continuing through with a smorgasbord of jazz canapes and hors d'oeuvres.
Frances Chan loves a theme: ‘Sunday’ and ‘afternoon’ songs are on the menu plus new tunes, retro gems and a surprise ending.
May Lay & Miss Dom had a fun Jazz Hang hosting the 95 BFM Jazz Show, 'sitting in' today for our Jazz Boss, Blind Mango Chutney.
