Show Notes
The NHL season is underway, and the pressure is already building around some of the league's top contenders.
The guys start by looking at the Penguins and Flyers after Pittsburgh throttled Philadelphia, before turning their attention to the Golden Knights and Alex Pietrangelo's new two-year extension. Vegas has done a lot of work to keep its core together, and with so many players locked up for multiple seasons, the Golden Knights appear to have extended their window to compete for another few years.
That leads into a discussion about which teams are facing the most pressure to get off to a strong start. Are the Edmonton Oilers under more pressure than anyone else in the NHL, or should teams like Colorado and Vegas be feeling the same urgency as Stanley Cup contenders? The guys also debate whether the Blackhawks can reach 90 points this season as Chicago takes on Utah.
Jeff Marek joins the show for another edition of The Sheet, discussing Montreal's offseason after missing out on Marchenko, Shane Wright, Detroit's situation with Edvinsson and which teams around the NHL are quietly facing more pressure than people realize. Plus, more from around the NHL on Daily Faceoff Live.
