Summary

A FedEx truck parked outside PSA's headquarters in Santa Ana, California, is robbed of an estimated $1 million worth of sports cards. The incident occurred while the driver left the truck unattended for 60 to 90 minutes, during which thieves broke the lock and stole two complete pallets of cards, along with some packages from a third pallet. As of now, PSA has reported a loss of approximately $963,000 for about 200 packages, but the total value is expected to rise as more cards are accounted for.

The investigation into the theft raises several questions, including the presence of video surveillance and the circumstances surrounding the driver's absence. PSA has been tight-lipped about the details, leading to speculation and frustration among affected collectors. Many are expressing concerns about the valuation process for their stolen cards, as PSA's reported figures may not reflect the fair market value, leading to disputes over insurance payouts.

The incident highlights the growing risks associated with high-value card shipments and has sparked discussions about security measures within the hobby. Collectors are urged to ensure proper declared values for their cards and consider alternative methods for transporting high-value items. Meanwhile, the sports card market remains vigilant as the investigation unfolds, with many hoping for a resolution that satisfies both collectors and PSA.
