Monday 7 September 2026 Evening Prayer for Monday in Ordinary Time
Daily Prayer: Common Worship Morning and Evening PrayerSummary
The podcast features a series of prayers and readings that emphasize themes of faith, humility, and community. It opens with a prayer asking for God's mercy and guidance, followed by a reading from Psalm 4 that reflects on trust in the Lord and the peace that comes from faith.
Subsequent readings include passages from the prophet Zechariah and the Gospel of Mark. Zechariah's message highlights the importance of relying on God's spirit rather than human strength, while Mark's account addresses the nature of true discipleship, emphasizing that those who act in Christ's name are allies, not adversaries. The episode also includes prayers for various professions, including those in the arts, agriculture, commerce, and for individuals facing unemployment or difficult work conditions, underscoring a collective reliance on divine support and community welfare.
The closing prayers invoke a sense of unity and purpose, encouraging listeners to seek joy in their work and to shine with love and light in the world, concluding with the Lord's Prayer.
