Why Not Me: The Podcast Ep 4 - How I Became a First-Time Marathoner in Under a Year as a Slow Runner
Why Not Me?Show Notes
Less than a year before I ran my first marathon, I could barely run for 30 seconds.
I wasn’t an athlete. I didn’t have some secret lifelong dream of running 26.2 miles. I was a new mom looking for something that felt like mine again, and somehow that turned into one of the most transformative experiences of my life.
In this episode, I’m finally telling my full couch-to-marathon story and what happened along the way as I went from simply trying to become a runner to becoming someone I didn’t even know I was capable of being.
Because sometimes the version of you who can do the thing doesn’t exist yet. You have to keep showing up long enough to meet her.

More from Why Not Me?
For so long, I tried to be who I thought other people wanted me to be. Funny enough, some of the best things in my life happened when I stopped doing that and started showing up as myself.
“How do you do it all?” The answer is simple: you don’t.
Permission doesn’t always look like asking, “Am I allowed to do this?” Sometimes it looks like needing your friends to love the idea. Researching until you’ve convinced yourself you need just a little more information. Waiting to see someone else do it first. Looking for the perfect blueprint. Staying somewhere you’ve outgrown because walking away would mean admitting you changed your mind.
What’s the thing you can’t get out of your head? The business idea. The trip. The career change. The hobby. The race. The thing sitting in your Notes app that you keep saying you’ll do “one day.”
A little preview of what’s coming on Why Not Me? A podcast for women who are ready to stop waiting for permission and start going after the things they keep putting off. First episode drops September 22.
