Saria's Song- An Ocarina of Time Tribute- Chapter 1: Sage

“Why can’t we go inside?” asked the little blond-haired boy sitting beside Saria.

Nothing in that blissful, sweet morning spoke of the events that would one day befall them both.

Long before Link became the Hero of Time, he was simply Saria’s boy - a strange, fairyless child entrusted to her care, with a destiny she could neither understand nor prevent. Years later, with the Kokiri Forest dying and an ancient power calling her towards the haunted Forest Temple, Saria must finally answer a destiny of her own.

This is Saria’s story, from a girl who helped raise a hero to the Sage of the Forest.

A Tribute to Ocarina of Time.

This story began as a sort of “what if…” scenario, originally planned as a NaNoWriMo project before the annual writing event was discontinued. It explores what might have happened after Saria entered the Forest Temple before Link’s arrival, as she does in the game. Originally discontinued, I decided to polish and release it in celebration of the upcoming remake.

I’ve written this novella so that it can be read as a standalone story. It shares some details and world-building with my Ocarina of Time novelisation, but you don’t need to read that story first.

Happy reading!
