The Lantern at Fallow Cross: Who Keeps Lighting the Graves?
A faded cast-iron lantern, a candle burned a third of the way down, and footprints recorded twice a year for at least seventy years - someone has been visiting Fallow Cross on June and December new moons for decades. Who is the person leaving a women's size seven footprint with a slightly supinated right foot, and why did the lantern first appear the winter a Thompson girl vanished?
In this episode, we follow Amy Crawford, a local historian, from a maintenance note filed in 2019 to county ledgers reaching back to 1951 and beyond. The episode traces the repeated constable entries, the pattern of visits every June and December, and the Thompson family events in 1926 that may tie to the lantern - what does that pattern really mean?
