Jim Lindberg of Pennywise

Lipps Service with Scott Lipps

Show Notes

Pennywise frontman Jim Lindberg joins Scott Lipps for a deep dive into the history of one of Southern California’s most influential punk bands. Jim looks back on growing up in Hermosa Beach, discovering punk rock, becoming born again and making the decision to walk into the garage where Pennywise was rehearsing—a moment that changed his life. He shares stories about Fletcher Dragge, the rise of Epitaph Records, touring with The Offspring, the impact of surf and skate videos, the Warped Tour and the tragic loss of founding bassist Jason Thirsk. Jim also discusses fatherhood, the anger behind Pennywise’s music and the younger bands keeping punk alive today. Pennywise emerged from Hermosa Beach in 1988 and helped define the Southern California skate-punk sound. The band’s current lineup features Jim Lindberg, Fletcher Dragge, Byron McMackin and Randy Bradbury. Subscribe for more episodes of Lipps Service with Scott Lipps. Learn more about your ad choices.
