The Serpent in the Jade City

(00:00:00) The Blue Note — A Supernatural Horror Audio Drama (Ember Files Full Cast Special)

Karl hated ghosts. When Jax Ember first met him in a church basement, Karl was supposed to be nothing more than the man behind the camera. Instead, he became the person who taught Jax that evidence could lie without being fake, that pancakes at midnight could count as a date, and that love did not always arrive carrying punishment with it. In Episode Seven of The Ember Files, Jax remembers the beginning of Karl: the investigations, the first kiss, the ordinary nights, and the strange little acts of love that slowly became home. And when Karl learns why Jax cannot sleep with a closet door closed, his solution is ridiculous, permanent, and exactly the kind of love Jax had never known how to trust. Before Karl became an empty chair, he was the man who made the darkness behave. THE EMBER FILES is a confessional supernatural audio drama from RJPC Studios, told by paranormal investigator and demonologist Jax Ember. Content advisory: strong language, religious trauma, references to abuse, sexuality, grief, and supernatural themes. Written and created by Robert Jerome Pagan. An RJPC Studios production.

Sophia was not possessed when Jax Ember met her. That is where he has to begin, because for years he told the story backward. Before the investigations, before Paranormal Salad, before the evidence and the obsession, there was Sophia: funny, frightened, seeing a woman in her hallway that no one else could see. Jax promised he could help her. When the haunting escalated and Sophia needed him most, he ran. When Jax returned, the apartment was still sealed. The water was still there. Sophia’s belongings were still there. Sophia was not. In Episode 5 of Paranormal Salad: The Ember Timeline, Jax finally tells the story that shaped everything that followed—and confronts the promise he has spent the rest of his life trying to keep. The episode concludes with an original performance by Jax Ember, making his confession not just something he tells us, but something he sings. Content Advisory: Supernatural horror, disappearance, psychological distress, grief, and themes of guilt.
