Why Work Feels Meaningless Sometimes | Author Sacha Hughes on 10 Years in Corporate & Love, Grief and More Sex Than Pinot

Wave Work Stress Goodbye

Show Notes

In this episode of Wave Work Stress Goodbye, I sit down with British author Sacha Hughes to explore why work can sometimes feel meaningless — even when everything on the surface looks “fine.” Sacha shares her experience of spending 10 years in the corporate world, and how that period of her life shaped both her perspective and her writing. We talk openly about the pressures of corporate life, the emotional impact of grief, and how our experience of work (and life) isn’t always coming from where we think it is. This is a conversation that goes beyond surface-level stress management. Together, we explore a deeper understanding of where feelings like pressure, anxiety and overwhelm are really coming from — and what begins to change when we start to see that more clearly. I particularly enjoyed hearing how Sacha reflects on her past experiences, and how her understanding has evolved over time. It’s a powerful reminder that even in the same circumstances, our experience can shift dramatically depending on what’s happening internally. Sacha’s new book, Love, Grief and More Sex Than Pinot, released on 16th April 2026, is now available on Amazon. It’s been described as a cross between Bridget Jones and Fleabag, blending humour, honesty and real-life experiences. Following the life experiences of main character Soho Summers after the death of her mother. If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or questioned the meaning behind your work, this episode will really resonate.

Trust the Process: The Spiritual Truth About Work Stress, Anxiety & Letting Go What if the answer to work stress isn’t changing your job, reducing your workload, or learning another stress-management technique — but learning to trust the process of life? In this episode of Wave Work Stress Goodbye, we explore the deeper spiritual understanding behind work stress, workplace anxiety, pressure, overthinking and feeling overwhelmed at work. When work feels stressful, it can seem as though the stress is coming directly from deadlines, difficult colleagues, workload, responsibility or uncertainty about the future. Rather than giving you another list of things to do to manage stress, we explore the possibility that there is a deeper understanding available — one that can help you trust life, let go of unnecessary mental pressure and experience more peace at work and beyond. 🎧 Listen now and discover a different way of understanding work stress from the inside out.

What if the stress, anxiety and pressure we experience at work aren’t coming from the workplace itself, but from something much closer to home — our own inner experience? In this episode of Wave Work Stress Goodbye, Luke Richardson is joined by Wyn Morgan, a fellow 3 Principles practitioner with more than 25 years of experience in people development, coaching and consulting. Luke and Wyn explore work stress, anxiety, overthinking, workplace pressure and wellbeing from an inside-out perspective, looking at how our thoughts shape the way we experience our jobs, relationships and everyday lives. They discuss: • Why work stress can feel so real • The connection between thoughts, feelings and our experience • Why anxiety and overthinking can become so consuming • The pressure we put on ourselves to perform and succeed • Understanding our inner experience rather than constantly trying to change the outside world • How the 3 Principles can offer a different understanding of stress and wellbeing • What happens when we begin to see that our experience is constantly changing • Finding greater clarity, resilience and ease in both work and life Wyn discovered the 3 Principles around 15 years ago and has since worked with individuals and organisations around the world, helping people discover a deeper understanding of themselves and their experience. If you’re struggling with workplace stress, career pressure, anxiety, burnout, overthinking or feeling overwhelmed at work, this conversation offers a different way of looking at what might really be happening underneath the surface. 🎙️ Wave Work Stress Goodbye with Luke Richardson — exploring work stress, anxiety, overthinking, leadership pressure and the psychology of our everyday experience.
