It's spring break, but we'd never leave you entirely here at Breakfast All Day. We stockpiled a few goodies for you while Christy's off skiing, including a Documentary Tuesday with two very different films: MARC BY SOFIA. Sofia Coppola explores the life and career of her friend of 30-plus years, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, in this intimate and fascinating documentary. If you like process and '90s nostalgia, this one's for you. In theaters. MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS: PART 1- LAST AIR IN MOSCOW. This was on both of our top-10 lists last year, so we're thrilled that it's now available for you to watch, as well. Julia Loktev's 5 1/2-hour doc follows a group of independent Russian TV journalists as Putin is invading Ukraine. They continue doing their jobs as they find themselves increasingly in danger. Streaming on MUBI. LITTLE DARLINGS: Was It Great, or Were You 8?: It's our favorite game, where we revisit movies from our childhood to determine whether they truly were great, or we just remember them fondly. This time it was Christy's turn, and she chose "Little Darlings," a film that seemed so racy to her in 1980. Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol star as summer campers from opposite ends of the economic spectrum competing to see who can lose her virginity first. Armand Assante, Matt Dillon and a very young Cynthia Nixon co-star. Play along and let us know what you think! Thanks for sticking with us. We'll be back to a more normal schedule next week, including a LIVE spoiler chat about THE DRAMA. Join us at our YouTube channel at Noon Pacific time on Tuesday, April 14. Hope to see you then. More from Breakfast All Day movie reviews
It's Arthouse Tuesday on a Friday here at Breakfast All Day. We've already reviewed the big movie everyone's talking about this week, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary "You Can See Everything." And as for "Street Fighter," Alonso did a quick out-of-the-theater reaction. But there are always plenty of new movies to discuss. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode: LA BOLA NEGRA. It's a sweeping historical drama and a queer Spanish romance. And it was a very big deal at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where the directors, known collectively as Los Javis, won the top prize. Playing in theaters now before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 2.
October means all the movies are very long and important. Well, most of them are. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. This is a very early look at the Elizabeth Holmes documentary, so it's a non-spoiler review, because there's a lot you're going to want to discover and discuss on your own. Directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim spent a month with the disgraced Theranos founder in her home before she had to report to prison for defrauding investors. The results are mesmerizing. In theaters Oct. 16, then come to our LIVE spoiler chat on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Noon Pacific and we'll really get into it.
It's a big midweek episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. Here's what we've got for you this time: THE SOCIAL RECKONING. Aaron Sorkin's follow-up to David Fincher's searing 2010 drama "The Social Network" focuses on Facebook -- and its founder -- from a different angle. This one's more of a journalistic procedural, and we don't agree on it. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madson, Betty Gilpin, Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. In theaters this weekend.
A ridiculously huge episode of Breakfast All Day to kick off October. Here's what we reviewed this week: DIGGER. Tom Cruise teams up with Alejandro G. Iñárritu for a massive, cacophonous climate change parable. We couldn't stand it, but we were also in awe of its cinematography and production design. Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller and Jesse Plemons co-star. In theaters. And once you've seen the movie, come to our LIVE spoiler chat at our YouTube channel on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Noon Pacific.
We are in the thick of fall movie season now, and you're here with us. Here's what we reviewed on this week's episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. PRIMETIME. Robert Pattinson IS Chris Hansen, host of the NBC series "To Catch a Predator" in the early aughts. The film is lurid and Pattinson gives an enjoyably garish performance. In theaters.
