Full Show: A Special Day Is Approaching...

Mark Finnell, the creator of the documentary series "State of Man," discusses the complexities of masculinity in today's society, particularly as it relates to young boys. He highlights the influence of social media and the rise of the "manosphere," where toxic masculinity is often glorified. Finnell emphasizes the importance of understanding how boys learn and develop their identities, noting that many young men feel lost and pressured by societal expectations.

The conversation touches on the impact of single-sex education versus co-educational environments, with Finnell advocating for a balance that allows boys to learn from both male and female role models. He believes that while some boys thrive in single-sex settings, co-education can provide essential social skills necessary for interacting with the opposite sex.

Finnell's documentary aims to explore these themes and provide insights into how society can better support young men in navigating their identities. He encourages parents to engage in open conversations with their children about masculinity, respect, and emotional well-being, ultimately striving for a more inclusive understanding of what it means to be a good man. The series is available for streaming on ABC iview.
