Show Notes

The Adventures of Sam Spade Detective presents “Lawless Caper,” originally broadcast on August 29, 1948. This CBS mystery stars Howard Duff as hard-boiled San Francisco private eye Sam Spade, with Lurene Tuttle as Effie Perrine.

Recently released gangster Johnny Lawless comes to Spade after discovering former associate Joe Moralis dead in his apartment. The trail leads back to a post-V-J Day hit-and-run case with West Coast underworld connections, giving Spade reason to question the story everyone seems ready to accept. William Spier produced and directed.

The Adventures of Sam Spade Detective presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
