Show Notes
East Glacier, Montana. Fire in the Mountains. What a glorious experience and amazing festival. Jason tells us all about it, from Agalloch performing “Ashes Against the Grain” in its entirety, to Enslaved, Sigh, Borknagar, swimming in the glacier-fed lake, and reconnecting with his homeland, Jason goes on and on about how fabulous this experience was.
After sharing those festival highlights, we dive into plenty of listener emails. Listeners chimed in on previous topics like Workout Metal, John Bush in Anthrax, and Sepultura without the Cavaleras, as well as stories about running into heroes and celebrities.
So, as Deicide says, “Join us!”

Today we revisit Episode 70 from January 31st, 2024. This was part of a larger episode on Record Collecting, but what we are republishing is a semi-exhaustive piece featured on Episode 70 about Napalm Death's classic and divisive track, "You Suffer." We gathered clips and comments from friends and luminaries in the scene, each one offering their thoughts on the song, interspersed with live versions and covers of the infamous one second song. See below for the breakdown of who and what you are hearing in this piece, in order of appearance.
This is the first in a new series we are calling Podcast Takeover. We hand the reins over to listeners and let them do the work. For this one, long time listener and yes, one of the Kyles, does a deep dive into film sampling in music. Kyle holds our hands as he explains plunderphonics, makes Sebastian happy by playing Buckethead, and showcases a wide and deep knowledge of both music and film.
In 2014 Jason Walton did the unthinkable by attempting to cover Bjork’s gorgeous and heartbreaking masterpiece “Bachelorette” off of her stunning 1997 album “Homogenic.” In this episode we listen to the original, and Self Spiller’s version and discuss them both.
A warrior and his sword. Fresh blood fell on the snow-covered hills. This is heavy metal—this is Unchained Vengeance.
Let’s go all the way back to Episode 10 from March 10, 2018.
