Show Notes
We've got a conversation with Jeremy Appel and we cover a LOT of ground!
For starters, Jeremy has released a new book on Danielle Smith entitled "Dark Phoenix" that charts her early life all the way to the premiership!
But we don't stop there!
We get into the ongoing implosion/civil war amongst the separatists in light of their crushing defeat in Alberta's recent referendum as well as another story that flew underneath the media attention for the referendum...
A former journalist who recently admitted that they not only manufactured a story, they lied to Albertans and Jeremy for years.
But our hot take on that might be a bit different than you would expect!

More from The Breakdown With Nate Pike
On Monday October 19th, while still reeling from the tragedy at CFB Wainwright, Albertans will have their last chance to vote on not only the future of our province and of Canada, but also what Albertan values even are.
Welcome to Episode 8.56, a conversation on the UCP’s strip mining of Alberta’s healthcare via dual practice billing and private diagnostic tests!
On October 3rd, The Breakdown brought our show to Red Deer for a sold out conversation with "The Harmonious Gentlemen" where we not only did a deep dive on Danielle Smith's referendum questions, but we also had a very necessary question about the misrepresentations inside of the questions and what the questions, and how Albertans answer, says about the values of Albertans.
Time for another live Alberta Politics Roundup! This week we start by taking a look at the recent healthcare announcement in Airdrie that is somehow a lot less than it seems before we take a look at Danielle Smith's continued defense of her divisive referendum questions. We then take a deep dive into who the divisive environment Smith has cultivated has allowed to gain in profile!
On August 29th, The Breakdown brought our show to Calgary, live for almost 200 people. We had an incredible lineup of guests who not only shed light on the biggest issues facing Alberta’s democracy but also presented potential solutions. Remarkably, two provincial party leaders attended, offering insights into what could be done.
