No. 9 UCLA football rolling, basketball plays first exhibition

UCLA's football team remains undefeated after a hard-fought 17-7 victory over Wisconsin, showcasing a strong defensive performance that impressed analysts and fans alike. The Bruins, now ranked ninth, managed to win despite starting a backup quarterback and facing a disciplined Wisconsin defense known for its physicality. Analysts noted that this type of win, characterized by a gritty and strategic approach, is a departure from past seasons where UCLA often faltered in similar situations.

The discussion also highlights the Bruins' upcoming match against Michigan State, which is currently struggling with injuries and performance issues. Analysts predict that UCLA should be able to capitalize on Michigan State's weaknesses, particularly in the passing game, as they aim to maintain their undefeated streak. The Bruins are favored by 14.5 points, and expectations are high for them to secure their seventh win of the season.

In addition to football, UCLA's basketball team had a successful exhibition against Cal Baptist, winning decisively. Newcomers, particularly Nikola Kusteritsa and Jojo Petty, stood out with their athleticism and skill, signaling a promising season ahead. The Bruins' coaching staff appears to have instilled a strong defensive mindset and a modern offensive approach, which could lead to significant improvements this year. The excitement surrounding both teams is palpable as they navigate their respective seasons.

In this edition of the BROCast, Dave and Tracy talk about the Wisconsin win for UCLA football, the upcoming Michigan State game, quarterback Josiah Boyd's impending commitment, and the basketball exhibition game against Cal Baptist.

We began by recapping Wisconsin, which was arguably the most impressive win of the season for the Bruins, given how hard the Badgers played on defense, UCLA playing with a backup quarterback, and what we continue to see from the Bruin defense.

We then talked about the Michigan State game, where we're expecting a pretty profound UCLA win. The Spartans have been decimated by injuries, particularly on defense, and the Bruins are already 14.5 point favorites in the game.

We also discussed four-star quarterback Josiah Boyd's impending commitment on Saturday, with all signs pointing toward UCLA. We talked about the value of getting a quarterback this early, and the general state of football recruiting.

Finally, we talked about the basketball exhibition win over Cal Baptist, and while there weren't grand takeaways about the potential for this team, we did talk about the real optimistic sense we have about this group of newcomers, headlined by Nikola Kusturica. #UCLA #UCLAFootball #UCLABruins #UCLABasketball #On3
