Show Notes
Today, we're recapping the events of Hurricane Helene and its effects on Western North Carolina and, more personally, its effects on us. This is not an episode we ever expected or wanted to make, but we're grateful that we were able to get together and discuss it, nonetheless. Here are some ways you can support our region if you're so inclined.
Vetted and confirmed organizations who actually helping right now:
Long-term support for farmers: https://asapconnections.org/donate/
Immediate support for everyday people (reaches people BEYOND just Asheville): https://www.belovedasheville.com/donate/
Donation needs right now: Contaminated mud clean-up: respirators, N95 masks, nitrile gloves, waterproof boots, and full body suitsCold weather preparedness: sleeping bags, coats, shoes, and other clothing in GOOD condition (worn or torn clothing donations are not helpful and slow down the process of getting people what they need)
General needs: generators, propane, and camping stoves
