Step into the bustling harbor world of Ancient Rome and spend a day as a Roman customs inspector, surrounded by merchant ships, towering cargo cranes, crowded warehouses, and enough paperwork to test even the most patient official.

As grain, olive oil, wine, pottery, textiles, and luxury goods arrive from across the Roman Empire, your job is simple in theory: inspect the cargo, check the records, collect the proper duties, and make sure everything has been declared accurately. Unfortunately, Roman merchants have a remarkable talent for producing perfectly reasonable explanations whenever their paperwork and their cargo disagree.

Settle in for a relaxing journey through the practical world of Roman trade, where amphorae are counted, weights are checked, merchants are questioned, and the machinery of an enormous empire quietly keeps moving through its ports.

Get comfortable, close your eyes, and fall asleep to history.
