The first season covered the Rise of the Ottoman Empire from the humble beginnings as a small Turkic Beylik to the Fall of Constantinople 1453 covering all the major battles including Nicopolis, Kosovo, Ankara, Varna, Rovine and much more, as the Ottoman sultans fought the Eastern Roman, Serbian, Bulgarian empires, as well as Venice, the Timurids, Hungary, Wallachia, various crusades and more (https://youtu.be/TDLmsiqhgns). The second season documentary covers the Ottoman Empire after 1453, following Sultan Mehmed II in the years after the conquest of Constantinople and focusing on the key wars, campaigns, battles, and political decisions that shaped his reign. Beginning with the consolidation of power in Constantinople, the video examines Mehmed’s reconstruction of the city, the creation of new imperial institutions, and the centralization of authority around the Sublime Porte. The narrative then moves through Mehmed’s major military campaigns across the Balkans and Anatolia, including the wars against the Serbian Despotate (1454–1459), the fall of Novo Brdo, Smederevo, and the final annexation of Serbia. It covers the pivotal Siege of Belgrade (1456) and the clash with John Hunyadi, one of the most significant Ottoman defeats of the 15th century. The documentary continues with the prolonged conflict in Albania, detailing Mehmed’s campaigns against Skanderbeg, including the Battles of Modrič, Meçad, Albulena, and Vajkal. It then follows Ottoman expansion into Morea, the defeat of Thomas and Demetrios Palaiologos, and the complete annexation of the Peloponnese in 1460. Further sections examine the conquest of Trebizond (1461) and the elimination of the Komnenos dynasty, followed by the wars in Wallachia against Vlad III Dracula, including the Night Attack at Târgoviște (1462) and the Ottoman invasion north of the Danube. The video also covers the rapid Ottoman conquest of Bosnia (1463) and the execution of King Stephen Tomašević.The video was made by Ilhan Altunkaya, while the script was written by Ege Güneş https://www.instagram.com/historia_egefem This video was narrated by Officially Devin (youtube.com/channel/UCU0-VII-V376zFxiRGMeZGg & youtube.com/channel/UC79s7EdN9uXX77-Ly2HmEjQ). In 1475, Charles the Bold’s Burgundian army was besieging Neuss when Emperor Frederick III summoned a relief force of roughly 30,000 men. But the Holy Roman Empire had no permanent standing army. So who actually answered the call, and how did this famously fragmented Reich mobilize for war? This medieval military history documentary reconstructs the forces behind the Siege of Neuss. Follow armored nobles and their retainers, urban militias organized by guilds and city wards, armed rural communities, and mercenaries drawn from every rank. Muster rolls and contemporary accounts reveal what knights, burghers, craftsmen, peasants, gunners, crossbowmen, wagoners, and servants brought on campaign, how they trained, and who paid the enormous cost. The evidence overturns familiar myths about defenseless peasants, helpless townspeople, and a dysfunctional Holy Roman Empire. Citizens faced armor inspections, villages stored communal weapons, and city militias could fight effectively, although discipline sometimes collapsed in spectacular fashion. By examining military obligations, equipment, wealth, status, and local organization, this video shows how late medieval Germany turned society itself into an army. The relief of Neuss was more than a campaign against Burgundy: it was a rare demonstration that the Empire’s decentralized system could unite when the Reich was threatened.Rise of the Habsburgs: https://youtu.be/op4sAomApBEWhy Was the Habsburg Empire Divided?: https://youtu.be/XPNv0iewEFEHow Imperial Cities Rose Through War and Alliances: https://youtu.be/zOXBONBc1CgCharlemagne’s Grandsons Lost Everything - Birth of France: https://youtu.be/cUsVWY0QfUEHow the Popes Survived the Fall of the Western Roman Empire: https://youtu.be/aN58kj_oxIcHow Clovis Changed Europe by becoming Christian: https://youtu.be/sQ728X06zhsEarly History of the Franks: https://youtu.be/iE4qiwz7_78How Charlemagne Used Propaganda to Shape the Narrative: https://youtu.be/2m_JUevVzqgCharlemagne's Army - https://youtu.be/PX5W6pA47ywCharlemagne’s Bloody War Against the Saxons - Verden Massacre: https://youtu.be/Rea-6g1v_JkWhat Everyone Gets Wrong About Feudalism: https://youtu.be/WFlIKK8uBOoWhy Was Italy so Fragmented in the Middle Ages?: https://youtu.be/L9m5kifZjhUWhy Was Germany so Fragmented in the Middle Ages: https://youtu.be/EiB8sMHxGqMWho is the Heir of Rome?: https://youtu.be/PHtaKsG2O-UThe video was made by Sebastiao Reis, while the script was written by Erik Wascheck, the video was narrated by Liam Taylor✔ Merch store ► https://teespring.com/stores/kingsandgenerals✔ Patreon ► https://www.patreon.com/KingsandGenerals✔ Podcast ► http://www.kingsandgenerals.net/podcast/✔ PayPal ► http://paypal.me/kingsandgenerals✔ Twitter ► https://twitter.com/KingsGenerals✔ Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/KingsGenerals✔ Instagram ►http://www.instagram.com/Kings_GeneralsProduction Music courtesy of Epidemic Sound: http://www.epidemicsound.comSources: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12WQ2WnapQlU_mJAG38l2bBABVVjMjX1-RatR8HLWOYQ/edit?usp=sharing00:00:00 - How the Empire Raised 30,000 Men00:01:35 - Nobles, Knights, and the Cost of War00:04:11 - Citizen Soldiers and Chaotic City Militias00:10:28 - Armed Peasants: The Myth Collapses00:14:22 - Who Became a Medieval Mercenary?00:16:12 - Why the Imperial System Worked#documentary #Holyromanempire #middleages Learn more about your ad choices. On 31 May–1 June 1916, the Battle of Jutland erupted in the North Sea, pitting Britain’s Grand Fleet against Germany’s High Seas Fleet in the largest naval battle of World War I. As both sides sailed out hoping to reshape control of the seas, the clash became a brutal test of dreadnought firepower, fleet tactics, technology, intelligence, and command decisions. The video opens with Jutland Begins: Fleets Sail for Battle, setting the strategic stakes of Britain’s blockade and Germany’s attempt to break it. We then explore the Dreadnought Era Tech revolution — heavy naval guns, turbine engines, centralized fire control, and the rise of the battlecruiser. In WWI Naval Strategy, we examine raids, submarines, and why decisive surface combat remained elusive. A critical focus is Room 40, Britain’s secret codebreaking unit, and how intelligence successes — and failures — shaped the battle. The narrative then moves into the fighting itself, from The Communication Error That Shaped the Day to the catastrophic Run to the South, where British battlecruisers like Indefatigable, Queen Mary, and Invincible exploded under fire. At the heart of the battle lies Crossing the T, as Admiral John Jellicoe finally deployed the Grand Fleet against Reinhard Scheer, forcing dramatic German breakout maneuvers. The story concludes with Night Fighting, Escape, and Jutland’s Controversies, covering destroyer actions, torpedo attacks, losses, and the enduring debate over who truly won Jutland.
