Demanding Mother of NYPD Detective Can't Escape Being Arrested for DUI

On September 28, 2024, Montvale Police Officers Salazar and Gaston were at a 7-11 when the store clerk notified them that a female customer appeared to be intoxicated. Officers followed the 52-year-old woman as she drove away from the 7-11. Officer Salazar observed the woman cross over the center lane lines several times and he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The woman presented Officer Salazar with a NYPD Detective Association card in an attempt to influence the traffic stop. However, she was still asked to step out of the vehicle in order to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. She was subsequently placed under arrest for DUI. At the police station, she was given 11 different attempts to provide a breath sample, but she did not follow instructions, and it was ultimately deemed a refusal to test. The woman's daughter, a NYPD detective, eventually arrived to pick her up and take responsibility for her.
