Show Notes:

Why are we tempted to worship/have idols in our lives?

Idols are ultimately a form of self-worship.

Our sinful nature makes us selfish and we are apt to make ourselves “gods”.

Self is always at the core of idolatry. Think about Adam and Eve wanting to be like God.

The definition of idolatry is “the worship of idols or excessive devotion to or reverence for some person or thing.”

Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.”

1 Corinthians 10:31 “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry”
