Ethel and Julius Rosenberg: The Case That Divided American Jews

We're a finalist for a Signal Award in the history category. If you enjoy this show, please comment wherever you get your podcasts. We will be back soon with a brand new season.

Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed in 1953 after being convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage, but the charge was not treason. In this episode of Jewish History Nerds, Yael and Schwab unpack what actually happened, what the Venona cables later revealed about Julius Rosenberg, and why Ethel Rosenberg’s role remains so disputed. They also explore the Jewish communal response, Cold War hysteria, and the lasting debate around justice, politics, and fear in America.
